The ground shakes and trembles as trees and vines cover the factory in green until there are no bricks visible.

Then with a quiet shift that gods have ever been good at, there is nothing but plants as the bricks crumble into the earth.

Demeter stands watching, her eyes potent and not here as she glows briefly and finally can breath again.

When the earth has stopped shifting, she moves to Malcolm and simply hugs him.

Malcolm holds her tight, not saying a word for a long while. His breath is warm against her hair.

He can't take his eyes off the factory. This is a side of Demeter he has hardly ever seen, and he wasn't looking forward to this display, no matter how much support he had given her.

And yet... Now that they're here, and once she had explained what happened in this place... It was hard to argue with her wish to strike at it.

She doesn't wish to speak not yet so she holds him, breathing in the scent of him and then kisses him with more than her usual passion.

Though she is good at controlling and keeping that which is frightening about her, today she is more Demeter and he is hers.

Perhaps it was growing up in Philadelphia, spending his mortal life entirely within a city, but Malcolm often forgets the power of Nature. And seeing forces of life and growth used to destroy is more of a paradox than he'd like to get into just now.

So instead, he keeps her close, listening to her breathing, and feels her slowly relax as the last bits of rubble settle to the ground.

"Thank you, Malcolm. I haven't been able to decide on an island yet."

Malcolm smiles. "Well, I've read The Magus too many times not to suggest Spetsai. How would that be?"

"Then we'll go there."

She takes his hand and in a moment, the air smells of sea salt and from somewhere she pulls a rather horrible straw hat and plops it on his head.

Malcolm gives her a squint--and a smirk--and takes a moment to undoff the hat and get a look at it. Then has to try to get it back on his head while laughing.

"I didn't know this is what you had in mind for my new look."

"Well that and getting you out of that suit into something a little less."

"You're not going to try to make me wear a thong, are you?"

"Again?"

"I didn't make you wear that, you simply put it on and looked rather good in it."

"I don't think those little old ladies will ever be the same."

"I still think you would have been better off not wearing anything than you wouldn't have had to buy it."

"Yeah, but I still would have paid for it, somehow."


"Probably with a night in jail for indecent exposure."

"Not on that beach and I'm sure you could have gotten out of it."

"I might have talked my way out of a few speeding tickets in my time," Malcolm says, allowing himself some satisfaction.

His eyes sweep over the beach they're on now, and he shakes his head. "Even more beautiful than I imagined."

He looks at her and grins, squeezing her hand.

Demeter grins and starts taking off his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt,

"There's a little villa on the beach that we can use and you're going to get tanned."

"Hey, I work hard at this pasty complexion."

"And you can pull it off but you'll look even better with a tan."

Malcolm knows when he's beat. "Yes, ma'am."

"So when was the last time you were here?"

"Oh my, I'm not sure."

She grabs his hand and pulls him towards the nearby market,

"We're going to get dinner and you need a better outfit."

"Now that sounds like a plan. I've missed the food from here, ever since we visited last time."

"I always have good plans."

He gets another kiss before being pulled into a clothing shop where Demeter starts talking quickly in Greek to the owner. In a few moments, Malcolm's arms are full of lots of clothing,

"Go try those on for me."

Malcolm eyes a couple of the items doubtfully, but he knows better than to say anything. Instead, he just gives her a grin and heads for the changing room.

...To emerge still wearing the straw hat, but now also a rather alarmingly brief pair of shorts, a garish shirt in the style of the Greek flag, and unbelievably American looking sneakers.

The grin's still there, but it might be a slightly more forced than it was a moment ago.

Demeter helpfully gooses him and grins,

"Its a start. We'll get those and then find something else in a different place."

"A start? A start of what?" Malcolm asks, but Demeter is already on her way, so he gives the ceiling a plaintive look and heads off after her.

Come to think of it. Nobody up there is going to help anyway. They're all probably on her side.
