Cruella is not moving anywhere unless they say and she is surrounded on all sides by people who care about Boo-AndrAIa, Enzo, Coreen and Demeter herself.

He manages a confused face.
"... makin sure no one cheats?"

"No. Guarding her." He jerks a thumb at Cruella. "The game's just to kill time."

Shorty glances at Cruella for a brief moment. "Oh."





He shuffles his feet uncomfortably.
"What'd she do?"

"Stole a child. Eat or sit, just don't wander so."

Her voice has a stronger edge than perhaps she realizes but the veil that hides her divinity has been slipping for quite a while.

Shorty sits in a chair obediently (only two people away from Cruella), looking down at his feet.
"Yes, ma'am."


Cruella, meanwhile, has noticed that the goddess' vines have loosed slightly and so she is trying to set herself free very carefully.

Demeter's attention has been divided so the vines are starting to read towards light elsewhere and loosen slightly,

"Good, now Shorty, where are you from?"

He continues to look at his shoes.
"No place special, ma'am. Been movin around ever since my ma died."

Enzo's mouth opens and shuts for a moment. Then he mumbles, "Sorry."

He's still not sure whether to trust him... but that one hit close to home.

Uncomfortable, he turns back to the board and says, a little too loudly, "Whose turn is it again?"

"Yours, I think, Sprout," she murmurs quietly in contrast to Enzo's previous loudness. Even though Shorty looks harmless enough, she still finds herself watching him closely; maybe Matrix's paranoid tendencies are starting to rub off on her.

Enzo lowers his voice and reaches for the dice. "Right, sorry."

Several minutes go by with the group awkwardly playing monopoly, Shorty looking at his shoes and Cruella struggling with the vines.


Then she manages one hand loose.

When the second comes loose she makes a triumphant noise. "Shorty!"

The youngster is there in a flash, knife ready, and almost as quickly the vines are cut through. He grabs for her hand and turns to pull her along toward the door.

Demeter feels the vines cut loose and turns and yells, there is very little human about her as thorns spring up around them.

AndrAIa's on her feet the moment Cruella shouts the kid's name and she moves towards them as the pair make a break for it. Demeter's thorns materialize and she reaches over the them to grasp the pair roughly by the back of their necks.

"And just where do you two think you're going?"

"Frag!" yelps Enzo at the same time. He's almost ready to fire his grappler at them, but instead, he shoots it at a rafter and swings past to get between them and the Door.

Shorty rolls his eyes at Cruella.
"You could've picked a better time, ma'am. Don't you listen to The Boss at all?"

Cruella growls at him.
"I'm your boss, and don't you forget it."

He shakes his head a little in annoyance.
"Of course. Forgive me."

She snorts.
"Never, you little-"
She makes a move toward him and yelps as the thorns dig into her skin.

Still holding tightly onto both Cruella and Shorty, she gives the pair a violent shake.

"Both of you shut your fragging mouths, right now!"

Coreen takes a bit longer to get up, on account of her belly, but by the time she does, the potato gun is leveled at their faces, alternatingly. Fully loaded, and with a hair trigger, it's almost surprising she hasn't shot anyone yet.

"Try us, and end up with a potato-ed black eye...and that's if everyone else doesn't feel like taking their turn--and we're really good at taking turns."

Cruella probably could bear witness with them playing Monopoly.

"We know alllll about turn-based combat," Enzo agrees.

(It's true. He had a unit on it last school term.)

Demeter is quiet but the thorns move in closer, her patience is strained and she wishes to act.

There's a faint clearing-of-the-throat noise, and then a pwing of blue light. "Bar Security," says Belar as he walks in out of absolutely nowhere. "No offense, dudes, but considering just how many people in this room have either broken rules or are setting about to commit premeditated breaking of the rules, I'm kind of tempted to turn everybody here into chickens until the naughtiness stops."

Coreen can't imagine that'd be good for the baby. She would much prefer to have a mutant squirrel baby, than to lay an egg. The potato gun gets pointed to the ceiling and the finger is far from the trigger almost as soon as he's said anything. Boo is important, but her own son will come first. That's just the way it is.

Enzo's expression reads, very clearly, Crap, busted.

He tries to cover it with a look of noble forbearance, though. "You can turn me into what you want, as long as you keep them here."

"I'll keep it in mind," says Belar dryly. "What do the rest of you ahve to say for yourselves?"

Demeter points to Cruella and she is in her more primal self,

"She stole a child and others are saving that child but let us destroy her, she deserves to be cursed."

"Nobody's getting destroyed around here," says Belar. "Dad Almighty. Cursing, maybe, we'll see about that later, but for now no destroying, thank you."
